Our new paper entitled ‘Mother to Fetus Transfer of Hydroxylated Polychlorinated Biphenyl Congeners (OH-PCBs) in the Japanese Macaque (Macaca fuscata): Extrapolation of Exposure Scenarios to Humans’ has been just published in Environmental Science & Technology.

新しい論文が発表されました。「ニホンザルにおけるOH-PCBの母親から胎仔への移行:ヒトへの暴露シナリオの推定」

PCBsの代謝物であるOH-PCBsは脳神経発達への影響が疑われており、ヒトでは発達障害と胎児期におけるPCBs摂取の関連が指摘されています。そのため、胎児・幼児期におけるOH-PCBsの体内挙動解明とリスク評価が求められていますが、胎児に関するOH-PCBsの分析事例は少なく、霊長類ではヒト臍帯血の報告例があるものの、胎児組織を対象としたOH-PCBs研究の報告は皆無でした。
本研究では野生ニホンザル胎仔の脳中から、脳神経発達に悪影響を及ぼすPCBsおよびOH-PCBsの検出に成功しました。霊長類を対象に妊娠初期の胎仔の脳からOH-PCBsの検出は世界初となります。ヒトの胎児においても初期発生段階でOH-PCBsが脳へ移行している可能性が極めて高いことが推察されます。
